It’s been some time since the second weekend of November, when you could find me at the Kings of Archery series: JVD Open 2024. This major archery event took place in a large sports hall in the south of Eindhoven.
The event attracted a whopping 1,200 archers from all over the world to the Netherlands. What an amazing sight it was to see so many people from different backgrounds come together with the same goal: participating in a major European indoor event that unites us through our shared interest, hobby, and sport—archery!
I’ve been attending the JVD Open for years. Every time I’m there, I get excited to dive back into archery, or anything related to it. In the past, I volunteered at the event—working at the registration booth, running around the field to ensure all scoring devices were connected, and helping with setup.
This year, however, I attended as a photographer—of course! I had never photographed an indoor tournament before, so this was quite the challenge. I love the change in targets, lighting, and the people when shooting a field tournament. The challenge this time was finding interesting shots, compositions, and angles, and I have to say—I did!
This tournament made me even more enthusiastic about photography than I already was! Many people asked for my socials and where I would post my photos. For that, I want to say thank you! I truly appreciate all the support and positive feedback about my photos. 🙂
It took me roughly three weeks to go through all the images and edit them to ensure proper lighting, but I’m really happy with the result!
Reflecting on the JVD Open, I’ve set some goals for myself for 2025:
- Quick Delivery – I want to deliver my photos no later than 7 days after a tournament. The quicker, the better!
- Quality Photos – I want to improve my shots, making sure I don’t have blurry people in the photos.
- More Tournaments – I aim to shoot many more tournaments in 2025, mostly in North-West Europe, but hopefully more than I did this year!
