Capturing Highlights from the Dutch Championship Field

The Dutch Championship Field marks the end of the summer field season in the Netherlands. This year’s edition was held in Ysselsteyn (Limburg) and organized by “Ons Genoegen“.

The weather was very nice for this time of year and, as it seemed, the last warm weekend of the year (for the Netherlands). With a beautiful 24 degrees on Saturday and a pleasant 20 degrees on Sunday, it was amazing! The weather forecast did mention rain, but it only came after everything was done and we were on our way to the car.

The course was nicely laid out. Since the Netherlands doesn’t have many hills and no mountains, the organizers made creative use of lighting effects on the targets. This meant having the peg in the sun and the target in the shade, or the peg in the shade and the target in the sun. Additionally, the targets were not aligned, which made measuring more challenging.

For this event, I rented the Canon RF 70-200mm f/2.8 again from BudgetCam (located in Eindhoven inside the Kamera Express shop). This lens performed very well with the lighting conditions I had to deal with and provided the range I needed to avoid getting too close to the archers while still capturing close-up shots.

For now, I’ve only been able to process the photos from day 1, which you can view by clicking this link! But fear not, the photos from day 2 will be ready sometime this week! Follow my Instagram for behind-the-scenes content, sneak peeks, and extras! 🙂

My next event for photography will be the JVD Open (Kings of Archery). See you there!
